About the TAG Heuer Grand Carrera Collection
History
The launch of the Grand Carrera series in 2007 marked a crucial turning point for TAG Heuer as they had to overcome the difficult task of reaching out to a new segment of older buyers, many of whom had never owned a watch by the brand before. TAG Heuer met this challenge with an undaunted spirit and went on to position the Grand Carrera as one of the world’s leading high-end watch collections. The Grand Carrera range is a premium design series combining many bestselling features to give watches that are extensive in functionality and outstanding in aesthetics.
Design
Signature aesthetic elements comprise a hand-applied logo, applied hour markers, rotating system disc, extensive Cotes de Genève finishing, double Sapphire case back and a double-crown. Each model in the series is available in a stainless steel bracelet, rubber strap or a crocodile leather strap. The standout design element of this series is the Rotating System (RS) disc used in all the models. The discs replace the traditional sub-dials. These discs have been elaborately decorated with semi-circular polished frames and impart the collection with a unique touch.
Features
The Grand Carrera is the only one of TAG Heuer’s watches that is not available as a quartz version. All the models are automatic and their automatic movements have been COSC (Contrôle Officiel Suisse des Chronomètres) certified to guarantee precision and durability.

Tag Heuer Grand Carrera Cal 17 is inspired from GT race car engine design. The unique features like rotating chromo replaced the traditional hands. Case and bezel are Grade 2 titanium coated with titanium carbide. Shining minus and hour hands clubbed with red second hand are mounted on black dial which is beautifully packed in sapphire crystal glass. It's bold looks are unbeatable and the grand carrera design makes it stand out from the crowd of sports watch. It's not just a watch iit's truly a sports car by design.

An amazing introduction to the extended family of Grand Carreras is the stunning grade 2 Titanium cased RS2. This watch comes with the distinctive rotating system for the seconds and chronograph minutes. A non-rotatable bezel with an edge grip gives this watch business-like look and make it sporty all at the same time. The crown is nicely detailed -

This watch comes with the distinctive rotating system for the seconds and chronograph minutes. A non-rotatable bezel with an edge grip gives this watch business-like look and make it sporty all at the same time.
The crown is nicely detailed in black DLC with a red go-faster stripe. The push buttons have a protective screw down collar to allow utilisation of the watch in sub aqua conditions without the fear of accidentally operating the buttons.
The strap and clasp are both well made out of exotic materials and very well designed. The clasp is of grade 2 Titanium as the case is but is not DLC coated.
Carefully applied design elements to reflect the luxurious thought process of this watch include the applied logo and the chronometer rated movement which can be seen through the sapphire glass exhibition case back which is divided into two parts. The hands of this beauty are as detailed as a transformer! The hour and minute hands are highly polished. The chronograph minute hand is one of a few red details that offer good disparity against the stealthy blackness of the rest of the watch. Black-red combination is a clasic example which never goes wrong and that is exactly what Tag Heuer did in case of RS. Tag Heuer have managed to create a seemingly new design by making the aperture easy to read from whilst implying great depth due to the raised frame about its perimeter and angles edges.
The Lume does its duty diligently at night. The strap is light and very comfortable making RS2 comfortable to wear despite a diameter of 43mm.
Though its a tribute to an old classic timepiece, this watch still holds its own entity. This watch is a beautiful luxury item having modern method of displaying measured time that carriess the legacy and tradition of the Company.
