About the Rado DiaStar Original Collection
The DiaStar collection introduced in 1962 was launched as the world’s first scratch-resistant watch. The debut of this collection marked the brand's devotion to innovation, positioning them as the “Master of Materials” long before the widespread adoption of sapphire crystals in watchmaking. Crafted from ultra-resistant hard metal, the original DiaStar employed an alloy of carbide tungsten powder formed through a meticulous sintering process. This bold use of technology and design encapsulated the forward-thinking ethos that continues to define Rado watches today.
Design And Craftsmanship
The first DiaStar Original was known for its unique oval case and round dial opening, capturing the spirit of 1960s avant-garde aesthetics. Over the years, the collection has evolved, incorporating subtle changes to meet contemporary tastes while retaining its unmistakable identity. This innovation, seen in recent versions, bridges the legacy of the original hard metal with contemporary advancements. The DiaStar’s characteristic sapphire crystal, a pioneering feature at the time of its launch, continues to be an essential element, with newer iterations boasting various faceted designs that accentuate the watch’s bold yet sophisticated appearance. Rado have expanded the collection, offering designs that blend heritage and modernity. The DiaStar Original retains its classic form but has been updated with current technological enhancements, including the R764 automatic movement and incorporates an anti-magnetic Nivachron balance spring for improved precision.
The collection features Rado watches for women and men with dials in an array of finishes, from the gold brushed designs with cubic zirconia markers to more minimalist aesthetics seen in the 60-Year Anniversary Edition. This special model, designed by Alfredo Häberli, showcases a nuanced take on the iconic design, featuring a hexagonal-faceted sapphire crystal to symbolise six decades of the DiaStar. The anniversary piece is set in a monochromatic scheme with Super-LumiNova elements on the hands and hour markers. Each version of the DiaStar brings unique elements while staying true to the original’s design ethos. The Skeleton model, for example, adds a contemporary twist with its open structure, displaying the R808 automatic calibre and offering a striking visual contrast through its anthracite-grey coating and gold-coloured accents.

Rado is the master metallurgist of Swiss watchmaking, incorporating almost every element and materials possible into their watches. High tech ceramics, gold, platinum, tungsten carbide and many more.The models are fairly priced compared to the competition with a good service support and excellent network of boutiques.
Lets talk about this particular model. Rado original with a convex bezel(tungsten ) and sapphire crystal dial has been in the market since the past 40 years or so. The design is similar but alterations are done by incorporating top notch materials with precise machining techniques. The two tone dial is eye catching and elevates the watch to a party cum formal wear category. Additionally the jewels on the markers dazzle under good lighting conditions(can replace a disco ball sometimes). The list is endless ,you get a premium Swiss quartz movement with day date feature,scratch proof sapphire crystal&to top it all the incredible piece of workmanship is competitively priced. Truly remarkable.
To sum it up
Pros: Great design lined with a two tone design,reputed Swiss brand,excellent customer support and network,high quality materials.
Cons: Be careful with the bezel (cracks can be expensive to mend).I had a vintage model with a crack ,had to spend 15k to repair.
I am waiting to get a good offer on this watch(don't have a Swiss dress watch yet). I would recommend this model as a initial investment to venture into the watch collectors club. -

hi i'm brinda actually i want to buy rado watch for my husband birthday.I found this watch( RADO ORIGINAL R12391633-114.0391.3.063) in ethos. I like this
model and price also comfortable to me. Then i call to ethos helpline,they give a very nice response and help me a lot. After that i have more confident about
ethos watches service, because "First impression is the best Impression" they really proved. Finally i bought this watch for my husband B'day. He feels very happy
and loved it. So if u want to buy watches for ur loved one u can to buy from ethos with more confident because they will provide nice service to u.
They provide reasonable price for all watches and they are trying to all people can buy luxury watch. -

It design and look seems very startling and attractive and anyone will see it will try out and pick it up despite some financial constraint. I already have one Rado brand watch although it is expensive but it works perfectly fine. I would be happy to have another sometimes as I wish to use them alternatively. It gives satisfaction of wearing them.

excellent look super brand from Swiss ,one should have this watch at least in his life time and the best store for this is ethos as they give very reasonable price and the executive speaks to us so gently.

Hi i recently bought Rado Diastar R12391633 watch. its an excellent watch. The round shape royal dial with gold and silver colour captures everybody's eyes, and it has the easiest method of strap lock. The best watch from Ethos. I will buy a couple of more from Ethos. Ethos is a great store to buy all the classic and luxury watches.
