About the Nomos Glashutte Orion Collection
Introduced in 1991, the Nomos Glashütte Orion collection represents a fusion of elegance and minimalism, inspired by the clean lines and functional aesthetics of Bauhaus design. The name "Orion" alludes to the beautiful constellation, which symbolises clarity and sophistication — qualities that are mirrored in the collection’s refined timepieces. The Orion is known for its classic look, making it suitable for various occasions, from formal events to everyday wear. It would be an understatement to say that the Nomos Glashütte Orion collection exemplifies the beauty of minimalistic design and precision engineering.
Design And Aesthetics
The Orion collection is distinguished by its sleek and polished design. The timepieces feature a slender silhouette, enhanced by a gently curved sapphire crystal that lends a soft touch to the dials. Each model showcases delicate minute markers and slightly recessed hour indices, achieving a perfect balance between elegance and functionality. With options in various dial hues, including white, champagne, and rose, the Orion offers a timeless appeal that enhances any wrist.
Movements
Equipped with some of Nomos's finest movements, the Orion collection boasts the DUW 3001 calibre. This ultra-thin automatic movement, measuring just 3.2mm in height, allows for a sophisticated design without sacrificing performance. Certain models are enhanced with the DUW 4101 movement, which features a date complication, marrying practicality with style.
Iterations
The Orion collection includes a diverse range of models tailored to different preferences, such as the Orion 33, Orion 39, and Orion 41, providing options for various wrist sizes. The collection also included a limited edition like the Orion Neomatik "175 Years of Watchmaking", which highlighted Nomos’s commitment to craftsmanship and their rich heritage.

ABOUT THE MOVEMENT
Guided by the principles of simplicity and performance, German watchmaker Nomos from Glashutte continue to draw appreciation for their in-house movements and the creation of an in-house escapement called the Swing system. This journey of vertical integration began with the launch of their first in-house calibre, Alpha, in 2005. This manual-wound mechanism was, at the time, one of the best mechanical movements globally and maintains this standing even today.
With just 2.6mm thickness, Alpha is an exceptionally slim movement, a tradition that the brand have endured through all their other in-house calibres. Its performance is close to chronometer standards, featuring the signature Glashütte three-quarter plate and stopwork. It powers traditional timekeeping functions along with a stop-seconds mechanism for approximately 43 hours once fully wound. Most of the brand's repertoire benefits from this calibre, including Club, Metro, Tangente, Ludwig, Orion, and Tetra.
