About the Nomos Glashutte Lux Collection

The Nomos Glashütte Lux collection, launched in 2013, embodies a striking blend of modern elegance and traditional craftsmanship, drawing inspiration from the iconic German kitchen clock. The name Lux, which translates to "light" or "lustre" in Latin, reflects not only the luxury of the timepieces but also the clarity and refinement inherent in their design. This collection serves as a statement piece for Nomos, showcasing their ability to compete in the higher echelons of watchmaking while maintaining their signature minimalist ethos.

Design And Aesthetics

The Lux collection is characterised by its unique tonneau-shaped case, designed by the talented German industrial designer Simon Husslein. This barrel-like form enhances the spacious view of the dial, offering a contemporary twist on classic watchmaking. Each model features a meticulously crafted dial that mirrors the simplicity and functionality of the German kitchen clock, utilising luxurious materials such as 18k gold, rose or white. The design exemplifies Nomos' commitment to minimalist aesthetics, ensuring that each piece remains elegant and timeless.

Movements

At the heart of the Lux collection lies the specially developed DUW 2002 calibre, an in-house mechanical movement designed for the collection’s distinctive case structure. The movement is visible through a sapphire caseback, allowing admirers to appreciate the intricate craftsmanship that goes into every timepiece.

Iterations

The Lux collection features several models, including the Lux Hermelin, Lux Zikade, and Lux Zobel, each uniquely distinguished by its dial colour. All models adhere to the same high standards of craftsmanship, boasting 34mm to 36mm cases and manual winding movements. The collection, while small in production volume, offers exclusivity and uniqueness, positioning itself firmly within the luxury watch segment.
