About the Nomos Glashutte Ahoi Collection
The Nomos Glashütte Ahoi Collection is a series of watches that combine Nomos' signature minimalist design with a robust, sporty aesthetic. Introduced in 2013, the Ahoi line stands out as one of Nomos Glashütte’s more versatile offerings, especially for those seeking a reliable timepiece suited for both everyday wear and active lifestyles.
Design And Aesthetics
At the heart of the Ahoi collection is its minimalist dial, characterised by clean lines, slim hands, and subtle yet effective accents. The watch’s dial, often in striking colours like Atlantic Blue or Siren Red, features simple indices and a small seconds sub-dial at the six o’clock position. This simplicity is a testament to Nomos’ ability to fuse elegance with functionality, a feature often attributed to the Bauhaus movement that informs much of the brand’s design philosophy. In contrast to some of Nomos’ slimmer, dressier models, the Ahoi watches feature a larger and thicker case, enhancing both durability and wrist presence. The case size, available in 36mm and 38mm variants, allows wearability across different wrist sizes. The incorporation of a textile strap reinforces the collection’s nautical and sporty undertones.
Movements And Iterations
One of the standout features of the Ahoi line is its utilisation of Nomos’ highly regarded in-house movements, particularly those from the Neomatik series. The automatic movements are notable for their slim profile, allowing the watches to maintain an elegant silhouette despite the addition of rugged features. The DUW 6101 calibre, for example, powers models like the Ahoi Neomatik 38 Date, providing not only accurate timekeeping but also incorporating Nomos’ patented Swing System, ensuring precision and innovation within a compact form factor. By placing the date ring around the outer edge of the movement, Nomos allows for a large, easily readable date display without adding heft to the watch.
The Nomos Glashütte Ahoi collection offers a diverse range of models catering to different tastes while preserving its signature minimalist design. The Ahoi Date introduces a practical date complication without compromising the watch's clean aesthetic. Meanwhile, the Ahoi Neomatik offers a slimmer, more refined profile thanks to the ultra-thin Neomatik movement, powered by the precise DUW 3001 calibre.

ABOUT THE MOVEMENT
Guided by the principles of simplicity and performance, German watchmaker Nomos from Glashutte continue to draw appreciation for their in-house movements and the creation of an in-house escapement called the Swing system. This journey of vertical integration began with the launch of their first in-house calibre, Alpha, in 2005. This manual-wound mechanism was, at the time, one of the best mechanical movements globally and maintains this standing even today.
With just 2.6mm thickness, Alpha is an exceptionally slim movement, a tradition that the brand have endured through all their other in-house calibres. Its performance is close to chronometer standards, featuring the signature Glashütte three-quarter plate and stopwork. It powers traditional timekeeping functions along with a stop-seconds mechanism for approximately 43 hours once fully wound. Most of the brand's repertoire benefits from this calibre, including Club, Metro, Tangente, Ludwig, Orion, and Tetra.
