About the Jacob & Co. Astronomia Collection
Since its debut at Baselworld in 2014, Jacob & Co.'s Astronomia collection has become a hallmark of innovation and luxury in watchmaking. The original Astronomia Tourbillon introduced a groundbreaking design with its planetary-style movement, featuring arms that carry movement components around the dial. This pioneering concept laid the foundation for numerous subsequent models, showcasing the series' evolution and enduring appeal.
Avant-Garde Design
Each timepiece features a unique Astronomia calibre, where the movement is driven by vertical arms rotating around a central axis, creating a mesmerising mechanical ballet. The collection features intricate 3D engravings on a rotating platform that displays hand-crafted dragons, constellations, Jacob-cut gemstones, and more. The design of the Astronomia watches provides an unobstructed 360-degree view of the intricate movement, allowing admirers to appreciate the complex mechanisms from every angle.
Key Iterations
The Jacob & Co. Astronomia Collection showcases a series of innovative timepieces, each distinguished by its unique complications and design features. The original Astronomia Tourbillon (2014) introduced calibre JCAM10 with a triple-axis tourbillon and a diamond moon. Astronomia Sky (2016) expanded on this with calibre JCAM11, adding zodiac signs and a vertical month display. In 2017, Astronomia Solar Planets presented gemstone planets and four rotating satellites using calibre JCAM19. The Astronomia Casino (2019) integrated a functional roulette wheel with calibre JCAM36 and a double-axis tourbillon, while Astronomia Art (2020) highlighted detailed miniatures such as the Taj Mahal and India Gate, featuring a fixed movement and a Jacob-cut diamond Earth globe.
The collection continued its evolution with the Astronomia Maestro (2021), which uses calibre JCAM57 to provide a 50mm transparent case, a triple-axis tourbillon, and a rotating globe within a 10-minute cycle. The Astronomia Revolution (2024) boasts calibre JCAM48B, rotating every minute with a constant force device for a 36-hour power reserve and a double-axis flying tourbillon. Lastly, the Astronomia Régulateur (2024) incorporates calibre JCAM56, with a 60-second rotation, double-axis flying tourbillon, and a translucent seconds ring.

ABOUT THE MOVEMENT
A haute horlogerie movement by Jacob & Co. that transcends any conventional code of watchmaking, calibre JCAM19 is the mechanism that runs the extraordinary Astronomia Solar watches. This hand-wound calibre, comprising no less than 447 components, is one of the brand's most complicated and advanced movements. It carries a three-dimensional vertical architecture featuring three arms bearing unique rotating components. The first arm holds a sub-dial to display the time with a patented differential system, ensuring that the 12 o’clock marker is always upright. The second arm features a 60-second twin-axis flying tourbillon in an open-worked rotating carriage. Finally, the third arm displays a globe, rotating in 60 seconds on its axis. All these elements, along with rotating gemstone planets, are placed atop a platform that also rotates but counterclockwise. Additionally, a 1.5-carat citrine as the Sun is placed at the centre. This extraordinary movement runs at 28,800bph and offers a power reserve of 48 hours.
