Climb the challenges with the ultimate climbing partner, the Bivouac 9000

The Raider Bivouac 9000 is one of the first watches capable of mechanically measuring altitudes up to 9,000 metres. It was first released in 2017, delivering unprecedented functionality with style. It touches on various novel elements that include the rotating bezel's ability to display the variation in the air pressure of a place. Such unique features combined with tasteful details bestow versatility in spades, culminating in a succinct timepiece.

Mechanical Altimeter
A rare complication in watchmaking, the Bivouac 9000 features a mechanically operated altimeter. The red central hand indicates the altitude on the bidirectional rotating bezel, which carries a scale divided into 50-metres steps, up to 3,000 metres. One full clockwise rotation of the red central hand thus indicates a climb in altitude of 3,000 metres. During a climb, the small red hand of the sub-dial located at 3 o’clock continues to turn too until, after three full rotations of the central hand, it arrives at its final destination of 9,000 metres above sea level.

Air Pressure Gauge
The Bivouac 9000 is also capable of displaying any changes in air pressure at the same altitude. The hectopascal (hPa) scale on the sub-dial located at 3 o’clock displays the current air pressure on a scale ranging from 1,013 to 300hPa.

Specially-Designed Movement
The Bivouac is equipped with a specially designed movement, what makes this movement unique is the addition of an aneroid capsule that makes the altimeter tick. This aneroid sensor is cleverly placed over the movement and functions as a symbiotic part of the FL311.

Power Reserve Indicator
Together with the altimeter and air pressure display, the dial also features a power reserve indicator at 12 o’clock. This provides the climber with plenty of warning when the watch needs to be wound after the movement has been running for around 60 hours.

Signature Cushion-Shaped Case
With a 48mm diameter and a lug-to-lug distance of 57mm, the case of the Bivouac 9000 creates a dominating presence on the wrist. However, this large size does not hamper the utilitarian purpose of the watch via the lightweight titanium construction. Further, the cushion shape promises a signature appeal.

Well-Designed Dial
Harmonically coordinated, the Bivouac takes centre stage with its well-placed complications. Instead of displaying seconds, the red central hand displays the altitude, whereas, the seconds are displayed inside a sub-dial placed at 9 o’clock so as to not deviate the attention of the climber from the primary intent of the tool.

The Strap
Grabbing this inventive tool watch is a grey antelope leather strap that perfectly compliments the brushed case. The strap is fastened by a pin buckle for maximum grip on the wrist.
