About the Eberhard & Co. 1887 Collection
In 2018, Eberhard returned to their historic headquarters in La Chaux-de-Fonds, housed in one of the town's most iconic buildings. The same year, Eberhard inaugurated their Museum within the premises, marking a significant milestone in their enduring legacy. As part of the celebrations, the original eagle, placed atop the building by founder Georges-Lucien Eberhard, was restored and reinstated.
To honour their founding date and hometown, Eberhard introduced the 1887 Remontage Manuel, a manual-winding timepiece that pays homage to Maison Eberhard's heritage. The 1887 collection exudes timeless elegance, blending tradition with sleek, harmonious design—ideal for any occasion and attire.
Features and Design
The 1887 Remontage Manuel features a refined dial with a subtle vintage aesthetic, adorned with a "clous de Paris" pattern that endows a rich textural charm to the watch. It includes a retro-style trapezoidal date window at six o'clock, inspired by historical Eberhard models. The dial's logo, bearing the name of the brand's founding town, reflects their rich archival heritage from the early 1900s. The watch is complemented by a jacquard silk strap crafted exclusively for Eberhard & Co. by Ulturale, a renowned Neapolitan tie-maker synonymous with historic sartorial tradition. These silk straps are adorned with an impressive floral motif that complements the overall elegant sensibility of the 1887 watches. The multifaceted crown is adorned with the embossed "E" of Eberhard while converging lines grace the transparent caseback.
Mechanism
The transparent caseback offers a glimpse of the intricate craftsmanship within, showcasing blued screws, gilded engravings, and circular wave pattern decorations on the balance wheel and gear train bridges. The EB140 calibre, entirely produced in La Chaux-de-Fonds, ensures precision with a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour and a power reserve of 40 hours, underscoring Eberhard & Co.'s commitment to exceptional watchmaking.
