Doxa SUB 300T Clive Cussler

The renowned American adventure and thriller novelist and underwater explorer Clive Cussler and Doxa go decades back when he received a Doxa watch as a gift upon securing his first publishing deal. At a special event hosted by Doxa and Watches of Switzerland, Cussler's son Dirk recounted how his father chose the iconic orange dial Doxa Sub 300T for his fictional main character Dirk Pitt, a decision that became iconic in literary and diving history.

Iconic Design

The Doxa Clive Cussler upholds the recognisable design of the regular SUB 300T models. Its cushion-shaped, angular stainless steel case is 42.5mm in diameter and 14mm in thickness. It fits nicely on the wrist with its 20mm lugs and 44.5mm lug-to-lug spacing. The collection has a screw-down caseback with expedition engravings and the logo of NUMA (National Underwater and Marine Agency), an agency founded by Cussler responsible for finding more than 72 shipwrecks. It also has a flat sapphire crystal. The handmade dial includes an embossed compass rose pattern at the centre, red accents on the second hand and bezel markings, and a "Clive Cussler" inscription in red letters.

Functional Excellence

Powering SUB 300T Clive Cussler watches is the Sellita SW200 movement, with a 28,800vph frequency and about 38 hours of power reserve. It comes with a "beads of rice" bracelet that matches the aged finish, a double push-button folding clasp with an integrated extension for easy adjustments, and a beige NATO strap. An optional black FKM rubber strap is also available. It also sports a helium escape valve at nine o'clock for saturation diving. The calendar disc highlights Cussler's birthday dates in red. Packaged in a book-themed box, this edition honours Cussler's literary legacy and appeals to collectors with its unique design and historical significance.
