New Top Time And A New Ambassador For Breitling: Austin Butler, The Face Of Top Time B31
Created to evoke the understated elegance of the 1950s and 1960s, the Neo is defined by its vintage-inspired design and unique single-hand time display. This collection captures the simplicity and subtlety of the era, offering wearers a refreshing take on timekeeping that encourages a slower, more considered pace. The Neo is an embodiment of minimalist style, focusing on essential details and clean aesthetics that harken back to the golden age of wristwatches.
Craftsmanship And Design Language
One of the most distinctive aspects of the Neo is its minimalist dial, which balances clarity and heritage. The collection features a variety of sunburst dials in several shades, including striking hues such as green, blue, and more understated tones. MeisterSinger have employed the dégradé technique to apply these gradients, creating dials that radiate from a lighter centre to a darker perimeter, adding depth and visual intrigue reminiscent of 1960s design aesthetics. The 36mm round case size, typical of that era, is paired with a polished stainless steel body that captures the simplicity of classic timepieces. The sans-serif Helvetica font used for the double-digit hour markers from 01 to 12 contributes to the Neo’s clean and modern appearance.
This typographic choice, which has grown popular among luxury brands, enhances the watch’s legibility and aligns with the brand’s minimalist ethos. Complementing this is the signature single-hand, elongated and needle-sharp, designed to sweep the dial and align with the markers for a precise yet unconventional reading of time. The collection is completed by a distinctive round date window at six o’clock, harmonising with the case’s circular form and reinforcing its balanced design. In 2017, MeisterSinger expanded the collection by introducing the Neo Plus, which offers a 40mm case size while preserving the collection’s signature design elements. Powering the Neo is the Swiss automatic Sellita SW200 calibre, which MeisterSinger have modified to suit their single-hand display. This reliable movement ensures accurate timekeeping and robust performance, encapsulating the watch’s balance of retro design and modern watchmaking standards.
