The Jacob & Co. Epic X CR7 collection represents a unique collaboration between luxury watchmakers Jacob & Co. and one of the world’s most recognisable football icons, Cristiano Ronaldo. Launched as a tribute to Ronaldo’s storied football career, the collection stands out as a striking combination of sportsmanship and luxury craftsmanship. It features exclusive co-branded timepieces that resonate with the persona of the famous athlete, embodying his relentless drive for perfection both on and off the field. The collaboration, built on two decades of mutual admiration between Ronaldo and Jacob Arabo, culminates in creating a collection that combines artistry with mechanical ingenuity, celebrating the synergy between these two powerhouses.
Design Inspiration And Features
The Jacob & Co x CR7 Epic X collection is a profoundly personalised version of the Epic X. The designs, Flight of CR7 and Heart of CR7, showcase the collection’s identity markers: a 44mm case with X-shaped lugs, a smooth and polished or diamond-set bezel, and a coloured crown and flange. The skeleton movement features striking architecture, with two vertical pillars forming the central part of the X shape initiated by the lugs. These pillars in the Jacob & Co x CR7 Epic X collection represent Cristiano Ronaldo and the CR7 brand. The left pillar takes on the shape of Ronaldo in various postures, while the right one bears the CR7 logo and his hand signature. The skeleton barrel cover is shaped like a football, and another image of Ronaldo wearing his iconic number 7 jersey is gold-printed on the caseback's coloured sapphire crystal.
The calibre JCAM45, a self-winding chronograph with a bi-compax setup, including a horizontal clutch and column wheel for precise timing, powers the timepiece. Its robust case shields protruding parts like the crown and pushers, ensuring symmetry and durability. The movement includes 260 components, a 48-hour power reserve, and a see-through case back revealing an X-shaped rotor. The practical design allows the pusher at two o'clock to start and stop timing, while the four o'clock pusher resets the hands for the next session. The skeleton movement’s transparency highlights the intricate craftsmanship, with components hollowed out to serve the CR7 design elements.
