Arnold & Son apply their avant-garde design sensibility to create the Globetrotter collection, which pays homage to the legacy of John Arnold and his significant impact on global exploration through the supply of marine chronometers to the Royal Navy. Introduced in 2018, Globetrotter is an exceptionally singular interpretation of a travel watch. It forges a unique ecosystem of decadence and sculptural artistry on the wrist with its bold and one-of-a-kind dial design.
Bringing The World Onto Your Wrist
Admittedly, the dial of a Globetrotter watch is where the eye is immediately drawn to. The beautiful landmasses of the Northern Hemisphere, recreated most scrupulously down to each detail, stretch across the centre of the dial upon a domed installation. It features a realistic depiction of North America, Africa, and Eurasia, with matte-finished areas representing the mountain ranges. The oceans are hand-painted with multiple layers of blue-pigmented lacquer, showcasing high attention to detail. This work-of-art is complete with an arched bridge that spans atop it.
The watch meaningfully combines traditional timekeeping features with a world timer function into the dial to facilitate an unobstructed view of the central dome. Subsequently, a slender 24-hour Arabic numeral scale contours the globe for reading the second-time zone. Additionally, two small, bright red-coloured hands peeking from underneath the dome indicate hours and minutes through markers positioned on the outer chapter rings. All this craftsmanship is secured in a naturally sizeable round case, cast in either stainless steel or precious material.
Keep Time In Style Wherever You Are
As fascinating as these Arnold & Son watches look, their mechanism for reading world time is equally majestic. To display the desired time zone, one simply needs to align the intended city on the globe with the 24-hour scale on its periphery. This mechanical feat is achieved by the maison's automatic calibre A&S6022. Its large balance wheel oscillates at 28,800vph, providing a power reserve of 45 hours.
