Officine Panerai’s journey are deeply rooted in their heritage, beginning in 1860 when Giovanni Panerai opened his first watchmaker's shop in Florence, Italy. The shop quickly became a landmark not only as a watch retailer and workshop but also as the city's first watchmaking school. Panerai’s foundation in fine craftsmanship were established here, setting the tone for what would become one of the most recognised names in luxury sports watches. Panerai’s association with the Italian Navy dates back to the early 1900s, when they began supplying the military with specialised tools, including precision instruments and diving watches. This longstanding relationship with the military provided Panerai with a unique perspective on what it takes to design watches that can withstand extreme conditions. This led to the development of the brand’s most iconic creations: the Radiomir and Luminor collections.
